Emily Conway wins contest with her Original Song “`Blue Sky”
12 year old Emily Conway wins 1 of only 2 spots at the Young Folk Music Lovers Competition. This contest is for youth under the age of 19 who are passionate about folk music. This year’s exciting competition is for a chance to win a one-on-one songwriting workshop with world-renowned children’s performer Fred Penner – as well as a weekend pass to the Festival.
Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society President John Drover says, “Part of theNewfoundland & Labrador Folk Festival’s mandate is to showcase the incredible young talent we have in this province. We are so delighted that Statoil and Fred Penner, a beloved entertainer to generations, have partnered with us for the Young Folk Music Lovers Competition, so that we can continue to grow and nurture the stellar young talent we have in this province.”Singer and Songwriter Fred Penner has, without a doubt, established himself as a fundamental part of the North American family entertainment scene. And whether it’s through CDs, videos, books or television, his cornerstone philosophy remains the same: absolute trust that his work can make a difference to young people.
Emily is looking forward to working with MR. Penner during his visit to Newfoundland during the NL Folk Festival on August 8, 2015.
